In psychoanalytic psychotherapy, the basis of treatment is the idea that the mind is built as an interactive development process from personal experiences. Every psychotherapy relationship is a unique process - a journey of two people, where the aim is to find the pain points stemming from the growth history of one's life and the difficulties they produce in this moment.
In a psychotherapeutic treatment relationship, there is an opportunity to go through experiences that have exceeded tolerance and that have not been accepted and understood at the time of the event - whether they happened in early years or in the present, but which, hidden in the mind, live and affect this moment. With the help of the treatment relationship, these events that were excluded from oneself can be re-emerge into the sphere of processing and understanding and thus become part of one's own world of experience.
The goal of psychotherapy is to deepen the patient's self-understanding, which inevitably leads to psychological growth, to the expansion of the inner space of the mind. At the same time, the feeling of control over one's life and the experience of being able to choose and influence one's own life using existing resources, but while protecting oneself, increases.
A person experiences the world with all their senses, with their whole body, and psychological stress is also reflected in the body as various symptoms. The psychoanalytic approach pays attention to body language, how the psychological world can emerge as various pains or physical symptoms instead of emotions.
I have a degree in Masters of Psychology and degree in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I have worked in public health services since year 2013. Psychotherapy studies I made in Helsinki 2018-2022 (Therapeia Foudantion and Helsinki University). You will find me in julkiterhikki (Public register of Social Welfare and Health Professionals) and from Kela's (Social Insurance Institution) site as a service provider.
Mental stress can be temporary, situation-related, in which case going through a lighter life situation can already make you feel better. Sometimes the load is too long-lasting and intense, in which case the person's means of protection are not enough and the situation becomes more serious as the symptoms also become more severe. This may be challenges related to work, studies or relationships, which can be explored and resolved through discussion. At my office, it is also possible to work on long-term difficulties experienced in life, bad feelings or mentally upsetting events that prevent you from living in the moment. I offer long-term, intensive therapy, but shorter therapy periods and acute crisis treatments are also possible. You can apply for support from Kela for the costs of longer treatment periods.
Feel free to get in touch and we will explore your life situation and your wishes regarding psychotherapy or your need for help.
